Cell Labs is the company behind RevDesk, a small team in New York inspired by Bell Labs and by our roots in cellular technology. We build AI agents that sell for real businesses, and this post is more about that work than about any one role, because every role here ends up touching the same thing.

The work

Picture a dealership’s website form coming in at 9:40pm. Within seconds, a RevDesk agent texts the buyer, answers what it can from live inventory, and offers a time to come in. From there it follows up across text, iMessage, WhatsApp, email, and calls until the buyer books, replies, or asks it to stop, and when it’s time for a person to step in, it hands the conversation to a salesperson with all the context in front of them and coaches them live on the call.

Eventually the ending comes back, whether that’s the appointment kept or the unit sold. Those endings are how we judge everything we ship, and when a business chooses to contribute them, they’re also what the next version of our model learns from. There’s more on that in how the model learns.

What the days are like

Your work reaches customers in your first week

There’s no roadmap queue standing between you and a dealership. If you change how an agent follows up, real buyers get different messages that same week and you can see what happened to them, which also means that if you break something, you’ll see that too.

You work close to the customer

Everyone here spends real time with the people who use RevDesk, from sales managers and BDC teams to store owners, and our best product decisions usually start with something one of them mentioned on an ordinary Tuesday.

You build with coding agents

Engineers here direct coding agents and own each feature from the database all the way to the screen, so taste and speed end up counting for a lot more than the logos on your résumé.

There are no layers

When a decision needs making, you take it to the person who owns it, and a lot of the time that person is you.

The open roles

Founding Engineer

Build what our agents run on, from calls, texts, iMessage, and WhatsApp to the rules that pick each next touchpoint and the record of how every conversation ended. You’ll direct coding agents, own features from the database to the screen, and see real buyers get different messages the same week you ship.

Forward Deployed Engineer

Spend your weeks with sales managers and BDC teams, mapping how leads actually move through a store, connecting RevDesk to the systems they already run, and shipping the playbooks that fit. You’re the reason a rollout works, and usually the first to hear when it doesn’t.

Account Executive

Bring RevDesk to dealer groups and service businesses, from the first call through to a signed rollout. Since the product proves itself in live conversations, the job is getting it in front of every store that should be running it, working directly with the founder.

Product Designer

Make autonomous work easy to trust by designing how a manager sees what an agent did, what it plans to do next, and where a person needs to step in. Your work ships to sales floors that judge software by whether it saves them time on a busy Saturday.

Who we’re looking for

We hire for two things. The first is craft, meaning you’re the person other strong people bring their hard problems to. The second is ownership: you take something that matters, see it through to the end, and check the number afterward. Plenty of people have one of the two, but we need both, because on a small team nothing gets done until someone decides it’s theirs.

In practice, that usually looks like someone who would rather ship and measure than debate, who has changed their mind because of what a number showed them, and who genuinely likes being the person responsible.

Before RevDesk, I was at Apple, and the lesson I brought with me is that the experience is the product. That’s the standard we hold here, for the agents and for everything around them. If you have the craft and the drive, the specific stack you’ve worked in matters much less than you might think.
